Thanks for watching! What do you think? Would you rather explore the Canadian Rockies or the American Rockies? And Adventure Artifacts is open for about one more week if you want to pick up a one-of-a-kind print from my adventures for yourself: https://adventureartifacts.com/ -Tristan
As to the “touristy” question: Yes there are some very touristy parts, especially in Jasper, Banff and parts along the Icefields Parkway. But you have to keep in mind that the Canadian Rockies — the section along the BC/Alberta border with all the spectacular jagged peaks and glaciers — actually stretches almost 800km (500 miles) down to the US border. Within that zone are not a lot of towns, and a LOT of wild, untouched space where you can easily get away from the crowds.

none of those bus rides were normal for regular Canadian people — you normally drive to all the spots you went to — the bus thing is just a tourist money grab
recommendation for next time — access the Columbia icefield from the BC side , on the road in from Donald BC , up the Bush fsr road .. drive to Mt Bryce and the icefield — ZERO people — free camping – no fees .. no stress — very good dirt road any car can drive — highly reccommend — also when you are there you can see the utterly amazing icefall brook area and its waterfalls
the creek you walked at the Columbia icefield flows out from under the Athabaska glacier — in 2006 i walked 200meters underneath the Glacier ,walking in that creek — i was inside the Glacier , it was awesome
I got to visit those parks back in the late 1970's and there were no buses back then. If you get off the busiest highways, there are definitely fewer people in surrounding parks that contain absolutely stunning waterfalls on par with Yosemite (Yoho National Park, Wells Gray Provincial Park). Loved those places. Thanks for all your travels. I love your passion to explore.
you missed Peyto lake — that is sacrilege
VIDEO ERROR : You were in fact in the Canadian Rockies in an earlier video — You went on a motorbike trip to West Kootenays ,Kaslo etc — that is in fact located in the "Selkirk range of the Rockies" , Creston in split by the the Selkirk range of the Rockies and Percell range of the Rockies– Jasper is located in the "Columbia range of the Rockies" — there is also the Monashee range of the Rockies and the Okanagan range of the Rockies ..and up north is several more ranges of the Rockies
Everything is better in Canada. We are Trump free and that makes us the freest nation in the world.
We saw a huge wolf running along the highway just west of Jasper one time. It was running along the shoulder, looked at us as we drove past, it did not even care.
That is a beautiful drive. We have driven it many times. Lots of natural salt licks around the Jasper area.
Great video! I can confirm that you actually were at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. My photos taken in 2007 match yours! ) :Safe travels!
Haha at Moraine Lake, when you said “the money shot” this is the lake that was on our $20 bills 😂 Also, if you come all this way, please don’t plan to do this trip so fast! That makes is so stressful. There are SO many beautiful (and not as crowded) spots that he missed!
I love love jasper. Been twice. Had some of the best ribs ever. Aside from my own hehe. It was terrible when I heard it was burning. Banff is pretty cool too.
Welcome to canada. I hope you enjoy our views
Great video, I've left 3 comments which Is ridiculous haha sorry. Just wanted to say if you want to explore more of Canada I think you'd love Newfoundland. It's almost like Ireland, that's the best example I can give. Anyways take care
Just got the Banff section, the more I watch the more memories I get. Just thought I'd share, I'll never forget driving through Banff with my parents for the first time and we seen mountains goats on the side of the mountain. It blew my little mind because the were standing on the mountain wall lol. This video is making me want to go back, thanks!
Lived in Alberta for 22 years and I had no idea about the skywalk part. Ive been there quite a few times now, definitely going to have to go do that next time.
Beautifully done young fella! Thank you for so well " capturing" both verbally and on video, some of my Nations " Quiet Majesty". Respect from an old gal in Ontario Canada.
The most tourist trap areas, at the worst time of year, in an area that was hit by wildfires, this experience could have been 10x better with some research first. Next time, maybe ask a local before traveling, it works in all countries 🤷♀️
I haven't been everywhere but the Ice field Parkway has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. See it if you can. 😎
Then why go to the tourist traps????
Why didn't you stay in Banff. Fun town, great steaks, hot springs…
In the late 1970's the staff at Lake Louise Hotel earned the nickname Lake Disease 😂
🇨🇦
Yes!!!!! The 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Rockies are nicer than the American
Wow, so sad to see the crowds at Lake Louise. Many years ago, it was so peaceful. It's the same in Nova Scotia. Globalism sucks.
you may be interested in this YT video (specifically the 1:50 mark) that shows what it is like to be completely alone in front the the Columbia Ice Field in mid-April.

Also, Alberta's Kananaskis Highway # 40 (with Longview at the south end) is just as spectacular as the Banff-Jasper Highway but without all of the people (especially weekdays). There's a 45-second section of this is in this video starting at the 28-second mark.

The three most beautiful US/Canada border crossings are in Alaska between Skagway and Yukon, Alberta's Chief Mountain, and Niagara Falls.
The area around Lake Louise to Bow Lake is spectacular.
Also check out Morraine Lake.
Screw Canadian Rockies, British Columbia has Two Mountain Ranges, beta Alberta has only 1 Mountain range.
I was at Moraine Lake September 18th and the 20th, it's by far my favorite place I've ever been too!
yes. better.
Love Banff. Been a few times. There were numerous hikes where you could stay spaced apart from people and have a decent amount of solitude. But agree with you on the many areas of heavy people traffic being onerous. Regardless, loved the video. Love the channel Tristan.
