Risk of Rain fans when it is about to rain:
Then, realistically, there should be a national map that shows a forecast area, and when you click, a popup will appear with the calculation. This would help people better plan for weather.
My question is, when they predict precipitation for a certain viewing area, how big is that area? More specific to my location, if the prediction is for the Kansas City viewing area, how big is that area?
I mean there will always be a 50/50 chance it will rain everyday everywhere. It will either rain, or not rain. 2 options, 50/50
They used to measure this in measurements of 10 like 10%, 40%. Now it’s 39%, 82%, etc. With more accuracy it could be 39.3%, 82.7, etc. It really doesn’t matter because they are rarely right anyway! 🤔🤔🤥
Why not use mm of rain per square meter, or inches of rain per stretced out cat in the US? Then you will not only know if it rains or not, but also how much it will rain 🤯
Lol now I am more confused
The only "science" where it's acceptable to take numbers which may be relevant, do some arbitrary maths with those numbers to produce nonsense, then allow people to make important decisions based on said nonsense.
Meteorologists are on par with politicians when it comes to occupational performance!
THANK U! U EXPLAINED THIS PERFECTLY!
So it's useless.
I live rain so much when it’s raining I love to hear the sound and watch the clouds how beautiful they are ❤😂
Wait what?? Why would the meteorologists confidence have anything to do with it?
Doesn’t 50% chance of rain mean that it’ll rain in 50% of that area?
They used to round off percentages to 10. Interesting now you can have a 36% chance. Next: A 36.574 % chance.
ME SCREAMING CAUSE THERE IS A %10 POP=CxA IN MIAMI
I remember it said 10% chance of snow As it was snowing and I was like- it’s 100% snowing rn lol
C is also the speed of light
Doesn't it mean that it is definitely going to rain, and the percentage is just how much area it's going to cover?
So in the case of the thumbnail, it is definately going to rain somewhere in your city, just a 50/50 shot of if it's gonna be in your area or not?
I should of been a meteorologist, I could be wrong and still get paid 😂
There is a tornafo rn 😱😱😱
50% chance of rain means the meteorologist hasn’t a damn clue and figures a 50/50 prediction will keep half the town from calling him out!!
50 percent of rain = the square root of the decontused fractionated par portion of the results which means 926 over 327 as it equates to its own balance. In other words…50% chance of rain equals a simple roll of the dice.

His voice was interrupting the conversation his hands were having.
Perfect video! That’s a subscribe from me, dawg.
Meteorology is what is known as a “POS” science. Go figure!
I've read multiple articles that say that PoP does not give you the chance of being rained on in your area, when that is literally exactly what it means.
it means they dont know for sure.
Weather report should tell us both % of C and A then.
“I’m 50% sure that there’s a 50% chance of raining tomorrow” bru what?? 😭
I learned exactly nothing.
And don't forget this about the weather guessers: Just two weeks before the cold snap in Texas the guessers were predicting WARMER than average for the rest of the winter. Guess they got that one right also.
Meteorology today all comes from large computers so if you put junk in you get junk out. One weatherman back east used the farmers almanac and his own observations and over the year he was right much more often than the computers. When there were no computers we generally looked at the sky for information about the weather and it was pretty good. Now we get a weather report which is hardly ever right. Weather guessers I call them.
It means they don't know.
The only truth to predicting rain is, it’s gonna rain somewhere!!👍
The story goes that the National Meteorological Society announced that it was recommending a new technique for forecasting weather that was readily adaptable and more accurate than conventional methodology. Before each forecast, the weatherman will flip a coin. 😂😂😂
A standoff between clear and rain
It's gonna be the battle of the rain
PS shh in reality Dreamland it has nothing to do with weather but it's okay they get paid more
If there are 10 meteorologist in a room and 5 of them think its going to rain….. 50 % chance of rain.
in my city and surroundings: 80% rain
reality: 0% rain.
you may want to laugh, but i've been gathering data just for the fun for a few years now, my city is not a big city (some people say it's just a big village so it's big enough to call it "super small city) and i've been asking my friends if it has been raining that day in their area and i've found that:
95.23% of the time there's < or = 80% chance of rain in my city it won't rain at all.
70.1% of the time there's >80% chance of rain in my city it will not rain, and if it does there's about an ~26.67% it's a big storm.
Clear to Partly Cloudy with a Slight Chance of Rain.
I’ve worked outside for 30 years. 100% chance means. Wear shorts… not gonna rain 50% of the time… 80% chance of rain means Bring an umbrella and a spare change of clothes it’s Armageddon out here. 50% Chance of rain means, call your boss (that’s me…) tell him weather doesn’t look good today… Go to the beach waves will be epic…
Never right even with all the high tech BS they have. The weatherman sucks!
