Antarctica and the Artic are two very different places. The Artic is an ocean surrounded by continents the ice is effected by warming ocean water building in the winter and melting in the summer and slowly melting to a 5th of what it was since 1987 to 2014. Antarctica is a continent surrounded by an ocean so warming ocean water has little effect. At this moment global warming is not impacting Antarctica the way it has the Artic. But you are feeling the effects with the jet stream moving down do to warming at the Artic pole. Winters will become more severe along with heat waves in summer and stronger weather paterns in the midwest and Eastern part of the US. Other northern countries will feel it as well.
